Miriam Scott is LAF's Project Director and Company Secretary. Her special responsibility is LAF's Communications. She edits and part writes the LAF magazine in line with LAF's social mission statement. She administers and facilitates the Leeds Supporting People Provider Forum (including the e-forum website) and co-ordinates the Leeds Housing Benefit Forum. She takes responsibility for LAF's development as a social purpose organisation in a climate of partnership working, alongside LAF's Board of Trustees and her staff team. She works on income generation for LAF as a whole.
Miriam has worked for LAF since 1989 and has a detailed knowledge of the voluntary housing sector and its development since that time. As well as a BA degree she has a Certificate in Community Business Skills from Leeds Metropolitan University. In addition she has professional writing and editing skills.
Before working for LAF she worked for Interplay Trust in West Leeds as a successful Administrator/Fundraiser. She also has teaching experience having taught English as a second language both in Leeds and overseas. Before Dave Mason joined LAF she set up and ran the LAF training programme.
David Mason is LAF's training and IT manager, assisted by Susan Cox as training and finance officer. He has worked for LAF since 1999.
David plans and monitors LAF's annual training programme, works with trainers to develop new and existing public courses, and has special responsibility for the content of in-house courses. He has also developed the IT systems that underpin LAF's training programme.
David has a lot of experience with education in the community and vocational training. As well as a BSc degree he has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a Certificate of Qualification in Voluntary Youth Work. Before he worked for LAF he spent 13 years at Shipley College mainly at Senior Lecturer level. He has also worked at Thomas Danby College, Leeds College of Building and Leeds Metropolitan University. He has taught science, communications and computer studies and has a special interest in presenting material accessibly for learners with a variety of special educational and vocational needs.
Susan Cox is LAF's Training and Finance Officer. She works with David Mason to provide LAF's excellent and well organised training programme, and to manage LAF's financial administration. She has worked for LAF since 2003.
Susan has a lot of experience with education in the community and workplace. As well as a BA degree she has a Post Graduate Certificate of Education for Post Compulsory Education and Training and a Diploma in Life Coaching. She has worked as a trainer for Thomas Danby College, the Swarthmore Education Centre, Leeds City Council and Sure Start. She has also facilitated in-house training for the Yorkshire Bank, the Alliance and Leicester and the Adult and Community Learning Services for Leeds City Council.
Susan also handles the finances for LAF and her experience of 11 years of banking has assisted her in this role. She edits and writes the LAF e-newsletter.
