LAF Training

LAF has a comprehensive training programme, which has been based on a Training Needs Analysis of the sector. The courses are tailored to meet the needs of supported housing workers and are delivered by trainers chosen for their in-depth professional knowledge and practical experience in the field.

Training Courses - Benefits


Courses: 12

These courses cover guidance in areas of major importance for the clients of supported housing organisations around welfare Benefits such as Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit claims, the Customer Management System at Jobcentre Plus for Jobseeker's Allowance and all the courses include ways to protect claims. There are also specific courses on benefits for Young People and Women.

Training Courses - Drugs


Courses: 5
These courses will look at the legal and social management of drug use. They will provide information on the use of drugs, such as cannabis, on premises and the sanctions that might be brought to bear on organisations. They will give insights in the management of drug users in residentail settings and through floating support. They will examine harm reduction and motivational interviewing strategies and will look at the problems of working with clients with self-harming activities.
