About the course
This course is aimed at managers and staff within a supported housing setting. It outlines a way of working with people to enable change, based on a Solution Focused Brief Therapy Model.This is a creative and positive way of working with people which offers an alternative approach to traditional problem focused interventions. The Solution Focused model is increasingly utilised by statutory and voluntary sector services. It can also be used at a personal level. Its application to support planning can enable agencies to meet supporting people requirements.
Course Content
- The principles of a solution focused approach
- Techniques used within solution focused working, including identifying clients existing strengths and resources, goal setting and measuring progress
- Application of solution focused working to support planning

- Understand the philosophy of Solution Focused working
- Understand and have had the opportunity to practice specific solution focused techniques
- Have an alternative framework for working with clients who are ‘stuck’ or ‘reluctant’
- Have explored the application of solution focused techniques to their own work
- Have explored the inclusion of a solution focused approach within support planning

Mary & Jeanette are Team Managers at Foundation Housing. Between them they have many years experience of working in supported housing. Within their own organisation they have worked with colleagues to develop support planning based on a solution focused model and have delivered in house training in this area. |
