About the Course

This course will focus on the value of assertiveness skills in the work situation. However, it will be acknowledged that the skills are transferable to all aspects of our lives. Participants will have the opportunity to look at how they behave in a range of situations and at what stops them being more assertive. They will practice some techniques of assertiveness during the course.

    By the end of the course participants will have had the opportunity to;

    • Clarify their understanding of assertive, aggressive and non-assertive behaviour
    • Raise their awareness of the importance of non-verbal behaviour in aiding assertiveness
    • Practice some of the techniques
    • Develop confidence in their own ability
    • Take responsibility for their own learning
    • Support each other in setting goals

    Judy Browne - has 16 years experience working as a trainer and consultant with the voluntary and community sector. Formerly working in adult education and welfare rights, she has a wealth of experience in support and guidance, combined with a knowledge of personal development training and management coaching. She developed the "Holistic Manager" workshops for VA-L encouraging black and ethnic minority workers to get a "taster" of different aspects of management.

Formerly working in adult education and welfare rights, she has a wealth of experience in support and guidance, combined with a knowledge of personal development training and management coaching.
