About the course

This course is aimed at all those with responsibility for staff training and development, for example supervisors and managers , particularly those early in their management career. It would also be useful for those considering applying for a first management to aid their own career development. It’s starting point is that there are development opportunities at every stage of an individual’s carer with an organisation. It uses a variety of teaching methods including small group work to enable the participants to broaden their skills and knowledge.

• The Developmental Opportunities in each stage
• The Learning Organisation
• The role of the manager
• Conducting a Training Needs Analysis
• Work based training opportunities
• External training opportunities

At the end of the course participants will :

• Be aware of the five stage model
• Have considered the learning opportunities at each stage
• Have examined the concept of the Learning Organisation
• Be aware of the role of the manager , especially in conducting training needs analysis
• Have considered work based and external training opportunities.
