About the course
The course will study, in some depth, common problems and issues surrounding housing drug users. The course particularly focuses on Housing Related Issues. It has a practical approach, aiming to give confidence and knowledge to Residential Workers, Supported Housing Officers, Resettlement Workers and Managers of these staff groups in their everyday dealings with the Issues. Best suited to those new to in-depth work with drug users.Note: A basic working knowledge of different drugs and their effects by participants is assumed, and will not be part of the Course
Course Content
- drugs and induction into a project.

- Pointers to strengthen the positions of workers on projects that deal with drug users and to give the right message about the project's stance on drugs

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course participants will:
- identify problem areas in management of drug users
- feel able to address feelings about drug users
- gain a better understanding of everyday pitfalls in managing this group
- be clearer about realistic aims and targets for this client group
- gain a better understanding of inter-agency pitfalls in managing this group
- have increased awareness of inter-agency co-operation and how it can aid working with users
- have an understanding of what can be done to give clearer messages to service users, other agencies, and the community about a project's stance on drugs
