About the course

The purpose of this course is to provide workers with a broad practical approach to keyworking; to question assumptions made about keyworking by everyone concerned in the process; to identify obstructions and find methods that work. It is intended for residential workers, resettlement workers and day support workers who are involved in day to day keyworking and have some prior experience. HOWEVER, THOUGH NOT A BASIC KEYWORKING COURSE, IT IS BEST SUITED TO THOSE WHO ARE BEGINNING TO WORK WITH DIFFICULT OR RELUCTANT CLIENTS AND WISH TO ENHANCE THEIR SKILLS AND EFFECTIVENESS.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course participants will:

  • Understand how equal opportunities and confidentiality affect keyworking
  • Have an insight into the client’s view of keyworking
  • Be able to maximise keyworking opportunities and the keyworking environment
  • Be able to work constructively with other agencies
  • Have an awareness of the pitfalls in keyworking
  • Be able to identify obstructions within the process and minimise them
  • Understand the need for clarity in exchanges with clients

About the Trainer:

David has over 14 years experience in supported and special needs housing, formerly as Area Manager for a Housing Trust which specialises in the accommodation and resettlement of ex-offenders, including problem and dependent drug users.
