About the Course

This session aims to brief new staff and existing staff, who are working for services that have funding granted to them by the Supporting People programme.

Course Content

  • To give an overview of the Supporting People programme, its structure, its role and how it commissions services.
  • To introduce people to Contract Management and Service Reviews
  • To give an overview of the quality and monitoring aspect of the programme.
  • To give practical advice to how to demonstrate support provision and build evidence portfolios for SP audit.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course participants will have:

  • Looked at the Supporting People programme - what it purpose is, it's role and its relationship with providers and have a better understanding of Supporting People
  • An introduction to the quality and monitoring aspects of the programme and understand the importance of service user involvement
  • Learned about the methods used to monitor services so that participants can understand and meet their contractual requirements
  • Familiarity with the service review process
  • Familiarity with the ‘Quality Assessment Framework' and be able to relate the core and supplementary objectives to current practice
  • Knowledge of building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate support practice

About the Trainer:

Jo has a great deal of experience, as an employee as well as a service manager. She has worked, for the past 18 years, in social work, community work and the supported housing arena and has worked for national organisations, small, local voluntary agencies and Local Authorities. Her experience covers a variety of services as well as a broad range of client groups, including young homeless people, people with mental health needs, people with drug and alcohol problems, older people and refugees/asylum seekers.
