Training Courses - Details

Course
When: 24 June
Course Name: Building Self-Esteem in Clients
Trainer: Judy Browne
Category: Interpersonal

Course Description:

About the course

Building Self-Esteem training attempts to enhance the positive outlook of young people who qualify for housing support. The course is for workers who are working with or, may, at some time, work with young people and attempts to give workers another practical skill and insight to enable them to work more effectively with their clients. Self-esteem has been identified as a key factor in Teenage Pregnancy. However, many Housing Support Workers come into contact with clients who would benefit from an enhancement of their self-esteem.

The course has been developed by experienced trainers and practitioners working in teenage pregnancy. It is envisaged that once staff have been trained they will be able to use the materials from the course with their clients to help boost their self-esteem.

Course Content

Participants will be helped to:

  • Use a team approach to develop skills and knowledge in order to promote the self esteem of young people
  • Use a number of practical exercises which can be adapted for use in a wide range of settings for both workers and young people
  • Continue to build and develop the training pack to meet the needs of workers and young people from a holistic view of self esteem
  • Encourage workers to reflect on their own self esteem and it recognises that this is a necessary part of encouraging and empowering young people to feel better about themselves and be more in control of their lives.
  • Review and evaluate the course
