About the Course
This one day course will focus on supporting people who are at risk of suicide. It is designed to allow participants to feel more confident in being able to identify if someone is at risk of suicide and will have more ideas and resources for working with people who are suicidal.

- Facts and myths about suicide
- Risk factors and warning signs
- The overlap between suicide and self harm
- How to work effectively with people who are suicidal
- The aftermath of a suicide
- Supporting people who have been bereaved by suicide
- The impact on us of supporting people who are suicidal
- Evaluation
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course participants will:
- Feel more confident in being able to identify if someone is at risk of suicide
- Have more ideas and resources for working with people who are suicidal
- Have explored their own thoughts and feelings in relation to working with suicide
- Have a list of further resources and reading materials which can support them in this challenging area of work
Due to the content of the course, it is essential that participants attend of their own volition and are willing to reflect on their own experiences of working with suicide.
