About the course
This course is aimed at managers who are aware that they may have to deal in an authoritative role with problematic and disruptive staff. It will look at the areas of possible conflict in the managerial/team member roles of the new manager.
Course content:
- "Is it them or you?
- Can the situation be pulled back and if so - how?
- Dynamics with other staff and their attitude to the issue
- How it feels for you as a manager
- What happens when it is over (and when will it be over?)
- Rebuilding the staff group
- Your reputation as a manager
- Liaising with Senior Management and their attitude to the problem
- Evaluation
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course participants will have:
- A clear understanding of the role of the manager
- Knowledge about what it takes to be an effective manager of the situation
- Confidence in their ability in resolution
- An understanding of staff team resistance and what can be done about it
- An overview of the likely response of Senior Management
- A full understanding of the feelings that this may engender in a manager
