About the course
The purpose of this course is to study, in depth, the keyworking process. To look at some of the assumptions involved in keyworking, and to question them. To discuss just how "far in" the keyworking process should go, and to highlight some of the things that might occur during keyworking. The course is aimed anyone (in the voluntary sector) who engages in in-depth keyworking with service users and has been specifically designed for experienced staff.

- Keyworking - What are we really trying to achieve?
- Keyworking and counselling - are they the same thing? If not, do they overlap?
- Keyworking - Just how deep should we/can we go in?
- Keyworking and transference; keyworking and cognitive distortion
- Keyworking that isn't working (Deadlock) Keyworking - Ending the relationship
- Keyworking and staff supervision and staff care
- Keyworking in practice - 3 in-depth case studies
- Keyworking and other agencies

Learning outcomes
At the end of the course participants will have:
- Increased confidence in what can be done in keyworking
- A clearer understanding of what keyworking actually is
- A greater insight into some of the processes manifested in keyworking
- Why keyworking might not be working and what can be done about it
- Insight into dependency in keyworking
- The importance of staff care/supervision when emotive issues arise in keyworking
- How multi-agency involvement can enhance keyworking
- Why and where equal opportunities feature in keyworking
