About the course

 

This two day course is for residential workers, supported housing officers, supported housing managers and resettlement workers who are involved in or manage the resettlement process. The course will use the National Homeless Alliance's 14-stage model and have a more ”in depth” look at the planning and management aspects of the resettlement process. Participants should have a basic knowledge of the NHA 14 stages of Resettlement.

This course description covers the content of both days.

 

Course Content

  • update/Refresher on the 14 stages of the National Homeless Alliance's Resettlement Plan
  • design of and implementation of Support Plans
  • essential and desirable skills for Effective Resettlement work
  • linking resettlement with Total quality management systems - ISO9002 & Chartermark
  • establishing boundaries and determining the point at which a client will be able to cope on their own
  • caseloads and looking at the problems of “letting go”
  • Health and Safety in Resettlement work
  • evaluation


Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course participants will:

  • understand and be able to plan for, manage/implement the 14 stages of the NHA Resettlement Plan
  • be able to design and implement effective support plans
  • be able to identify the skills needed for successful resettlement work
  • understand the importance of and be able to implement quality systems within the resettlement process
  • understand the limitations of resettlement work – where it ends, where other interventions are more appropriate
  • know what interventions work and how/when to use them
  • have an understanding of the Health & Safety aspects of working in the community

About the Trainer:

Steve Pepper is a training centre manager for a national registered charity who deliver a wide range of programmes for Job Centre plus, Apprenticeships and train to gain.

He also runs his own private training business specialising in Supported Housing, Health & Safety (including Food Hygiene) and staff development. Steve is a graduate of the HCIMA and CIPD and a corporate member of the Royal Society for Health.

Prior to his current role he spent a number of years as Support and Resettlement Manager for English Churches Housing Group in Leeds.

While working for Harrogate Health Care as a Training and Project Manager he gained invaluable experience as a control of infection rep and as taking the lead role on Pest Control Management for the Authority. He is an IRCA accredited ISO9000 series Auditor and has implemented a number of quality systems including PQASSO, ISO 9002, Customer First and "In House" systems.

Steve has recently undertaken a Diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and is working towards being accredited as an NLP Practitioner.
